Ann Marie's Law/SUicide PReventionIn June of 2013, Ann Marie Blaha from Orland, IL committed suicide after two classmates allegedly used social medial to persuade her to do so.
After her tragic death, Ann Marie's family worked to get Senat Bill 1793 passed so that school boards across Illinois would be required to implement a suicide prevention and training policy in hopes that youth suicide rates decrease across the state. The legislation, known as AnnMarie’s Law, was enacted into law Aug. 21, 2015.
